The Irony of Renewable Energy Insurance

There is ongoing commentary about significant insurance premium increases and coverage reductions for renewal energy projects.

This is being attributed in great part to climate change related insurable risks like weather and bushfire exposures and events.

Australia is considered in the top echelon of climate change risk exposed geographical regions by the global insurance industry.

I find it ironic that insurance is difficult for renewable energy projects.

These projects can make a big difference to reducing climate change risk and the insurance problems impacting these projects. Longer term thinking is required by the insurance industry, both in terms of their underwriting and substantial investing activities.
